| I've been hunting since I was 7 or 8 years old when my Dad took me to
Bobby Powers’ farm for the early teal season. I didn't shoot, but from that day
forward I was hooked on waterfowl. I remember going with him and his friends
brushing blinds and working on blinds. But I was too young too hunt. I shot my
first duck, a blue-wing teal, out of a blind in Lick Creek. My Dad also took me
squirrel and deer hunting on our farm in Paris, TN as well as many other places
around. I guess what made me want to hunt the most was to be with him. |

| These days I turkey hunt from time to time, deer hunt a little and
fish when I can. But, my love is duck and goose hunting. I have to goose
hunting is my favorite. It has been since the first goose fell from sky and hit
the river bottoms of Mr. Powers. There's nothing that compares to the sound of
geese or the site of them coming into the hole with feed down and talking up a
storm. You might say I'm a ‘goose-a-holic’. Just the other day my wife said to
my dad, "Look what you started, this is all you're fault". To which he replied
"I didn't know it would go this far", as we unpacked 6 new Avery Migrator
blinds! |

| These days I still hunt with my Dad, but also with my friends like
Brad Houston, Chris Smith and an array of others I'm ashamed to mention (you
know who you are) and my nephew, who I introduced to hunting. We hunt anywhere
there are ducks and geese and where we can get permission. But mostly we hunt
Dover Bottoms and the Cumberland River. |

| I also collect calls when the finances permit. I have Mark Warmath to
blame for that addiction. As far as duck calls go I use RNT, Southern Game
Calls or one of the ones I've collected, whatever feels right? And of course,
everybody's got a Wench. But for geese I use Fred Zink and Gary Grob's (Double
G) calls that will never change. |

| We are blessed by God to live in a state, for that matter a country
that offers such a wide array of wildlife and opportunities to hunt them. We
should also be thankful for the men and women who defend our freedoms that
allow us to enjoy the outdoors. So pray for our troops. |

| Don't forget to take a kid hunting, you won't regret it. |
